Project Impact

At CLPOA, we believe that sustainable change is measured not only by numbers but by lasting improvements in the lives of children and communities. Through partnerships with government agencies, corporate foundations, and development organizations, our interventions have strengthened education, child protection, WASH, and residential care systems, creating safer, healthier, and more inclusive environments for vulnerable children.

Child-Friendly School Infrastructure & Anganwadi Centres, Howrah

The project has transformed learning environments by improving school infrastructure, access to safe sanitation, and hygiene practices. Student enrolment increased to 85%, daily attendance exceeded 80%, handwashing practices improved to 75%, and absenteeism among girls declined by 40% following the provision of gender-segregated toilets. Hygiene awareness promoted through Child Cabinets has also encouraged positive behavioural changes among families and communities.

WASH in Schools, Kolkata

CLPOA's WASH programme has benefited students in approximately 526 schools by providing access to safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene education. The initiative has resulted in 80% improvement in hygiene behaviour, 75% enhancement in students' quality of life, increased handwashing practices through Soap Banks, improved school attendance, strengthened Child Cabinets, and enhanced menstrual hygiene management with over 85% of girls receiving awareness support and 90% of girls' schools equipped with sanitary facilities.

KAWACH – Community-Based Child Protection

The KAWACH project has strengthened community-based child protection mechanisms across North 24 Parganas. Community Child Protection Committees, schools, Kanyashree Clubs, police, and health institutions have worked collaboratively to prevent child marriage and protect vulnerable children. Over 60% of community stakeholders now actively report child protection concerns, while joint community action has contributed to preventing nearly 80% of identified child marriage attempts, creating stronger local ownership of child protection.

Residential School Programme

CLPOA supports a 100-bed residential facility for marginalized girls at Bijaygarh Balika Vidyapith, funded by Samagra Shiksha Mission. Beyond ensuring education, nutrition, healthcare, and holistic development, the programme has consistently delivered encouraging academic outcomes. Since 2019, all 65 students appearing for the Madhyamik Examination have successfully passed, including 16 First Division and 19 Second Division achievers, demonstrating the transformative impact of comprehensive residential care and educational support.
