Protection - Major Intervention (Past 5 Years)
- CHILDLINE - The national, toll–free, 24 hours emergency telephone helpline for children in need of care and protection. CHILDLINE Kolkata intervened numerous cases (approx. 1000-1500 cases per year) of various nature like shelter, medical, repatriation, rescue, missing, child abuse, child trafficking, child marriage etc. CLPOA continues to function as Nodal Organization of Kolkata CHILDLINE since 1999.
- – This project (Mother and Child Health) was implemented by CLPOA in nine (9) Municipal Wards of Kamarhati Municipality from 2016 to 2022. The intervention took place in the vulnerable slums of Kamarhati Municipality with the objective to improve maternal and child health status, reduction in mortality and morbidity of pregnant women, lactating mothers and children by increasing health seeking behaviour, improving awareness on health, nutrition, hygiene and establishment of linkage between formal health service delivery systems and beneficiaries. Home visits, monthly awareness meetings with mothers and eligible couple, adolescents, meetings with Anganwadi workers, capacity building of HHWs/ASHAs & Mahila Samity, facilitation of nutrition & health education at ICDS centres, observation of ‘Days’ were held as major activities to aware beneficiaries of socio-economically disadvantaged and minority community. The project covered Indirect beneficiaries -1,06,772 and direct beneficiaries -10,756.
